The Cottonwood Heights Amateur Radio Club (CHARC) placed second in the nation in the ARRL Field Day in the “1F” category.  This category is for active Emergency Operations Centers using one radio transmitter. In total, over 37,700 operators participated, in over 50 categories.  There were 30 EOCs in 16 states and one Canadian province with 268 operators in the 1F grouping this year, including 16 members of CHARC.

CHARC took first place honors in 2016, and hopes to continue its success next year and in years to come.

CHARC volunteers are vital part of the city’s emergency response efforts, and play an integral role in community disaster preparedness.
