Connor David Sawyer was born April 2017 with a rare heart defect. He was expected to live only a few days or perhaps a few weeks, so his parents decided to take him home rather than experience his last moments in the hospital.

Despite the defect in his heart, Connor fought on for nearly five more months before passing away. His sweet spirit and tender courage inspired Connor’s parents to do something in his honor. They started a memorial fund through Intermountain Healing Hearts to help other families who deal with similar situations, and commissioned a special pendent with a local jeweler to help raise money for parents of children with heart defects.

Briana and Josh Sawyer also petitioned their neighbors to allow their street to be renamed in Connor’s honor.

On Nov. 30, a Cottonwood Heights Public Works crew helped his family (including Connor's brother Caleb) install new signs on 2220 East (between 7110 South and Somerset), renaming the road “Connor David Way.”
