It’s a new year, and with it comes new volunteer opportunities for residents interested in serving on the city’s historic committee, arts council and board of adjustment.

  • Board of Adjustment—This group acts as an appeal authority for the city and provides for fair and just treatment in the administration of local zoning ordinances. The board meets on an as-needed basis.
  • Historic Committee—The historic committee is tasked with identifying, preserving and protecting the buildings and structures, historical sites, stories and objects that pertain to the city’s history. The group meets on a monthly basis.
  • Arts Council—The arts council’s job is to promote all types of artistic endeavors in the city. Each year, they organize events such as a community play, photography contest, writing workshops and more. The arts council meets monthly.

If you are interested in serving on any of these commissions, please submit an application and resume to Deputy City Manager Linda Dunlavy no later than Friday, Jan. 31 at 5 p.m. Application materials can be mailed to or dropped off at the city offices, or sent via email to ldunlavy@ch.utah.gov. Applications can be found on this website. Just click on the “Get Involved” tab at the top of the page and then choose “Volunteer.”
